How to Remove Spam NFTs from Your Solana Wallet

Spam NFTs are one of the most annoying parts of using Solana. Scammers airdrop worthless NFTs to thousands of wallets, hoping users will click malicious links embedded in the NFT metadata. Beyond the security risk, these NFTs clutter your wallet and lock up SOL in rent deposits.

How do you identify spam NFTs? Look for NFTs you don't recognize, especially ones with suspicious names or descriptions urging you to visit a website. Never click links in NFTs you didn't expect to receive. Common spam patterns include fake 'claim reward' NFTs, impersonations of popular projects, and NFTs with URLs in their names.

To remove spam NFTs, you have a few options. You can burn them using your wallet's built-in burn feature (Phantom supports this) or use a dedicated tool. When you burn an NFT, it's permanently destroyed. After burning, the token account becomes empty, and you can close it to reclaim the rent deposit.

The important thing to remember is that each NFT account locks approximately 0.00204 SOL in rent. If you've received 20 spam NFTs, that's about 0.04 SOL locked up for nothing. For wallets that have been active for a long time, spam NFT accounts can add up to meaningful amounts.
