How to Clean Spam Tokens Out of a Solana Wallet

Spam tokens are unsolicited mints that show up in Solana wallets — often with fake logos, “support” links, or promises of free claims. They clutter your UI and often leave behind token accounts that lock rent SOL even after you ignore them.

What spam usually looks like

  • Tokens you never bought that appear after browsing or after your address was scraped
  • Names that impersonate major brands or airdrop programs
  • Metadata that pushes you to connect a random site or enter a seed phrase
  • Tiny “dust” balances meant to make the account harder to close

Rule one: never follow claim links from unknown tokens. Treat surprise airdrops as untrusted until proven otherwise.

Safe cleanup workflow

1. Do not interact with the spam mint

Avoid swapping it on random sites. Avoid “claim portals” advertised in the token name or image.

2. Hide or burn in your wallet

Most wallets let you hide a token from the UI. To fully remove it and prepare for rent recovery:

  • Use your wallet’s burn feature when available, or
  • Send the entire balance to a burn address / null destination only if you understand that flow

Burning reduces the balance to zero. Hiding alone does not close the account or free the rent.

3. Close the empty account

Once the balance is zero, close the account to reclaim ~0.00204 SOL. You can do this per token in Phantom, or batch-close empties with SolWipe.

Security checklist

  • Never paste a seed phrase into a website
  • Prefer official wallet burn tools over unknown “cleaner” dApps
  • Revoke suspicious token approvals if your wallet surfaces them
  • When using SolWipe, confirm you are on solwipe.com and review the recoverable SOL before signing

Why spam cleanup pairs with rent recovery

Even worthless spam creates a token account with a rent deposit. Ignoring the mint leaves SOL locked. Burn → close is the complete cleanup. SolWipe handles the close step after balances are zero.

After meme seasons and airdrop waves

Spam volume spikes when attention is high. Schedule a cleanup pass after busy weeks — same habit as post–meme-coin wallet cleanup.
